Lola Rita the second eldest on her family, and now the last of generation spent her years with exemplary greatness for her children and her community.
Few years back, I had a chance to ask her secret in being happy and content at her age. “I do nothing except thank the Lord.” she says during our conversation. “What else to ask for, I can’t ask for more, I have more than enough.”
During that meeting, she taught me to take control of aging with intelligence and good health.
Her positive attitude truly serves her in reaching a centennial age. She loves reading and spends most of her time on it along with playing word search and crossword. That’s how she maintains her memory she said.
This amazing woman have shared her wit and wisdom to her children and other family members.
Gali remembers well the things she learned from her mother.
“Enjoy life the best you can; have a positive attitude and keep on smiling; life is not all about material things; have faith in God, and respect the Golden Rule. Count your blessings and if you have nothing good to say, don’t say it,” Gali sums up.
Meanwhile one of her grandchildren from Spain, Sarah has lots of fond memories with Lola Rita.
“My best memories of Lola are all the positive words she always has for me. When I’m down. Her great advice on health issue. Her beautiful face always with a smile. And when she sings ‘when you’re smiling, when you’re smiling…’ She’s the best Lola ever!” exclaims another apo.
Lola Rita loves to sing her childhood song which she seemingly applies in her life. “When you’re smiling the whole world smiles with you.”
