‘Tie a String Around the World’ returns to Manila

A vital section of the Philippine exhibit, Tie a String Around the World, travels from the Venice Bienalle 2015 to Manila.

Featuring the works of two National Artists, Manuel Conde and Carlos “Botong” Francisco and two contemporary artist Jose Tence Ruiz and Manny Montelibano the exhibit will be at the 12th Floor School of Design and Arts Gallery of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

The showcase focuses on the territorial claim of China, anchored on Conde’s 1952 film “Genghis Khan” which was shown at the Venice film festival.

As a response, the college’s Architecture and Production Design students prepared the re-imagined interventions to the contested waters, and even contemporary costumes.
