Sunshine Place brings back Korean pressed flower master Mi-Kyoung to share her expertise in a two-day workshop next month – August 7 and 9; August 11 and 18; and August 13 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The syllabus includes “Making Hand Mirror,” “Pressed Flower Set-lifetime use” and “Making Letter” to be taught on Day 1 and “Folding Fan,” “Accessory Making” and “Mini Frame” on Day 2.
Except for pincer and scissors, workshop kits are available to include flowers and other materials from South Korea.
Mi-Kyoung holds the distinction of being first Pressed Flower Master of the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organization of Korea since 2014. She finished Complete Modern Art Course at Hongik University and is President of BackHyang Pressed Flower Organization. She is also Director of the Society of Asian Ethno-Forms; Operation Committee member of Artcritic, and former vice chairman of the Board of Pressed Flower Organization.
Among her awards are Grand Prize winner of Pressed Flower Competition by Korea Modern Art Association in 2006; Grand Prize winner of Design Competition in Korea in 2006; Excellence Award in Wild Flower Exhibition in Korea in 2006; Excellence Award in World Pressed Flower Exhibition in Korea in 2007; and Korea Culture and Management award in artist section in 2016.
