A “minor” revamp in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet looms, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed on Wednesday.
Andanar issued the statement amid talks that he would be transferred to another government post.
In a television interview, Andanar said it was up to the President whether to keep him as head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
“It’s so difficult to [answer]. But there is talk of minor changes in the Cabinet. And I don’t know if it’s going to happen during the State of the Nation or after the State of the Nation or maybe this week, we’ll see,” Andanar said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.
“But I’m happy that I was able to serve at least three full years at the Presidential Communications,” he added.
Andanar said he has yet to receive word from the Duterte about his rumored appointment as presidential adviser for political affairs.
“Kung anuman ang gusto ni Presidente (Whatever the President wants), if he wants to move me to this position or that position, we serve at the pleasure of the President,” he said.
It was earlier reported that Andanar might take the post vacated by Francis Tolentino, who was elected senator in May.
Amid the planned revival of the Office of the Press Secretary in October 2018, Andanar said he was willing to accept the political adviser post if offered by the President.
The former TV5 journalist, who pushed for the upgrade of equipment and facilities of the government’s communication and information system in the past three years, earlier said he believed that he could be the link between the Executive branch and politicians across the country.
