MANILA – Filipino travelers, specifically emigrants, can now expect a faster and more efficient immigration process with the enhanced e-Travel app integrated into the system of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).
At the official launch of the enhanced e-Travel app on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, CFO Secretary Dante Ang II said the integration of the CFO system with the e-Travel app is part of a broader effort to modernize government services under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas vision and align with the administration’s goal of creating a digitally advanced and globally competitive nation.
“We are pleased to announce that with the integration, our outbound Filipino clients can now verify whether they require CFO registration before their departure, eliminating confusion and reducing delay,” Ang said.
By linking the CFO’s Application Programming Interface with the BI’s Border Control Relations and Travel App, Ang said they were able to establish a robust verification system that enhances security and ensures authenticity.
The CFO chief further said the integration strengthens the agency’s efforts to curb the use of fraudulent CFO certificates.
“This development will significantly improve the immigration process, ensuring a faster and more efficient experience for Filipino travelers. This collaboration allows for faster processing at immigration checkpoints and improved data sharing among government agencies, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of our migrant clients,” Ang said.
The system was developed through the joint effort with the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
DICT Undersecretary David Almirol said the integration is a major step toward smoother immigration processing.
He said the system would allow the BI to instantly verify a traveler’s CFO registration, eliminating the need for manual checks and reducing processing time at checkpoints.
He added that the integration with the CFO system would ensure the authenticity of CFO certificates and prevent fraudulent documents from being used through real-time verification with the agency.
