Oscar nominee Karla Sofia Gascon is finally back on track after being involved in a serious controversy during the awards season.

In a report released by US entertainment outlet Variety, Karla will co-star with Vincent Gallo in a movie titled “The Life Lift.” Her role will see her portray a psychiatrist who “embodies both God and the devil,” per the outlet.

According to the news outlet, Italian filmmaker Stefania Rossella Grassi will direct the film, which marks her directorial debut.

Vincent’s character will portray Gabriel, who comes across Post-its left in the elevator of his New York apartment building that “order him to commit atrocious murders of three other tenants who, in turn, want to kill their next-of-kin.”

It can be recalled that during the awards season earlier this year, Karla made news headlines after expressing her controversial views on Muslims, George Floyd, and diversity at the Oscars.

Since then, Karla has not been present at any campaign but eventually made her way to the Oscars, where she lost the Best Actress award to “Anora” star Mickey Madison.

Following “Emilia Pérez,” it was announced last year that Karla would star in the Spanish-language trans fable “Las Mala” directed by Armando Bó, who won an Oscar for co-writing Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 2014 drama “Birdman.” — Carissa Alcantara
