CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Recorded crime incidents in Central Luzon dropped 19.37 percent in March, according to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) on Monday.
In a news release, PRO-3 said a total of 1,057 crime incidents were recorded from March 2 to 29, lower compared to the 1,311 reported between Feb. 2 and March 1.
“This decline of 254 cases underscores the impact of sustained security efforts in curbing criminal activities,” the PRO-3 said.
Both index and non-index crimes saw notable reductions. Index crimes, which include murder, homicide, physical injury, and robbery, went down by 38.01 percent or from 271 incidents to 168.
Non-index crimes, which include violations of special laws and other offenses, dropped by 14.52 percent, from 1,040 to 889 cases.
The PRO-3 vowed to sustain its intensified operations to maintain peace and order especially as the May 12 midterm elections draw closer.
At present, the police force has ramped up patrols, maintained strict enforcement of the gun ban, and strengthened intelligence operations to track down and apprehend criminals.
“Additionally, the consistent service of search and arrest warrants has led to the capture of fugitives and the confiscation of illegal firearms and contraband,” PRO-3 said. — Jason De Asis (PNA)
