The latest trailer for “Fantastic Four: First Steps” hints at the possibility of a new member joining Marvel’s First Family, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The trailer was released online on Thursday, in anticipation of the movie’s theatrical premiere on July 25.
It first debuted earlier this month during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation. Directed by Matt Shakman, the film presents a fresh take on the superhero quartet that first appeared in comic books in 1961.
“Fantastic Four: First Steps” features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, the Hollywood Reporter said.
In the new footage for the project set in the 1960s, Reed Richards and Sue Storm discover that they are expecting a baby, which leads to a complicated reaction. “We can do this,” Kirby insists.
Our heroes face threats from Galactus but remain determined to stay united, even as public confidence in them begins to wane. “We will face this together,” Kirby affirms. “We will fight it together — as a family.” Toward the end of the trailer, Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer makes a brief appearance, gliding across the screen to deliver a warning.
The latest version of the screenplay is written by Eric Pearson, who also contributed to Marvel’s upcoming “Thunderbolts.” The cast of “First Steps” includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus, along with Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne. — Robert Requintina
