Walker Scobell and Leah Sava Jeffries in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” (Disney+)
MANILA, Philippines — Streaming platform Disney+ released the official trailer and poster for the second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” based on the popular book series by Rick Riordan.
The second season will follow the events of the second book, “The Sea of Monsters,” where the titular character (Walker Scobell) embarks on a quest to save his friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and a magical item that will save the barrier protecting Camp Half-Blood.
New characters are introduced like Percy’s half-brother Tyson (Daniel Diemer), the Cyclops Polyphemus (Aleks Paunovic), Rosemarie DeWitt as the sorceress Circe, Timothy Simons as Tantalus and Tamara Smart as Zeus’ daughter Thalia.
Percy also finds himself encountering the Greek gods Ares (Adam Copeland), Hermes (Lin-Manuel Miranda), whose son Luke (Charlie Bushnell) is back as a servant of Kronos and his father Poseidon (Toby Stephens).

Also returning are Leah Sava Jeffries’ Annabeth, Dior Goodjohn’s Clarisse, Virginia Kull’s Sally and Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus or Mr. D.
Threats in the Sea of Monsters include Polyphemus, Circe, Charybdis, and Scylla — many of them characters from Homer’s “Odyssey” — which will test Percy’s mastery over water before time runs out.
The second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” premieres on Disney+ with the first two episodes on December 10 followed by new episodes every Wednesday.
An unscripted podcast series will accompany the release of each episode to offer behind-the-scenes access to the show, which is already shooting its third season in Vancouver
