It was a brazen mercurial act, caught on a handy cam by a visiting white male caucasian tourist, was the hold-up on a broad daylight on extremely busy West Avenue, a group of masked daring hold-uppers with hi-powered armaments, firing it on the air as they drove out in their van, after doing a quick bank sweeping of cash. All these and more, was flashed on the evening news, and Manilans of the ever noble and loyal city, seems just to take it with a grain of salt and shrug of their shoulder.

As we laid to rest our dear Editor Vic Cruz a few days ago, the staff of Atin Ito felt so lost. He was at the helm of the paper for over 30 years.

Left Toronto the blue ( as Margaret Atwood luv to say, though I adored adding Towering Toronto ) last Jan. 15, dear Norma Carpio of Imperial Travel where I normally purchased my airtickets full priced not discounted, I was politely informed by the Air Canada agent, that I shall board the direct AC flight to Hongkong instead of via Vancouver, which i did not mind at all. At Hongkong new mega air terminal, I browsed at the biggest duty free shop and nibbled at the biggest food court in the world, amidst the clangor of an extremely busy but efficiently ran air terminus. The Cathay Pacific flight to Manila was a breeze were compatriots that emanates from the four corner of the globe, varying faces all sporting mixed emotions, but definitely excited by the prospect of soon touching down to the motherland.

In 2004 a visitor was given permission to remain in Canada for two weeks. He was able to get visitor’s status extended. He then married a Canadian and she filed a sponsorship application for him inside of Canada while he was still in status as a visitor. On the basis of this application, the status was extended again. But that sponsorship application was refused when the immigration department determined it was not a genuine marriage, but rather a fake immigration marriage.
