Giselle-Kris concert

Giselle Sanchez had a misunderstanding with singer Kris Lawrence when the two of them took part in a fundraising concert in Strumms, Makati City, on March 12. The comedienne was hosting the said concert, which was to raise funds for musician Bell Cruz who is undergoing dialysis. Kris Lawrence apparently got irritated when he misinterpreted Giselle's comedic hosting style during the concert. She asked him to tell the audience more about him-self, this did not sit well with the Star In a Million grand winner in 2006. During the Manay Po 2: Over-load press conference last March 13, Giselle narrated what happened during the said event. "The event or-ganizer gave me the name of Kris Lawrence without giving me the name of his band. Dapat banda muna niya then si Kris. Ang nangyari, when I called him, wala yung banda niya, so he couldn't perform. He was holding the mic and I asked him, ‘Do you want me to help you?' He said, ‘Yes, please.'

Tinanong ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Rufa Mae Quinto sa presscon ng bago niyang movie na Manay Po 2: Overload na ginanap sa Imperial Palace, Quezon City, kung totoo bang thirty million pesos ang halaga ng kontrata niya sa GMA-7.

"More pa. Ha-ha-ha!" napatawang sagot ni Rufa Mae sa tanong sa kanya. "Hindi ko kasi alam kung... Depende pa sa gagawin kong trabaho, e! Kasi kung maraming magiging projects, which marami namang nakaplano for me, malamang, siguro dadami yung pera. Pero depende pa rin, e."

It’s a done deal. Richard Gutierrez’s twin brother Raymond will host the local version of American Idol (AI) which GMA network has renamed Pinoy Idol. The change from the old title Philippine Idol aims to dissociate the new show from ABC-5’s first take on the world-famous contest.

The Cojuangco-owned network lost its bid to renew the franchise which is owned by Freemantle Media. AI now airs on GMA Network’s subsidiary, QTV 11.

GMA 7 News and Public Affairs captured 2 gold medals, 2 silver, and 2 bronze at the New York Festivals Awards Ceremony. “Reporter's Notebook” (RN) hosts Maki Pulido and Jiggy Manicad shared a Gold World medal for the episode “Batang Kalakal.”

“I-Witness” (IW) host Sandra Aguinaldo won a Silver World Medal for “Iskul Ko, No. 1”; co-host Howie Severino also won a Silver for “Huling Hala Bira.”
