A memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) and the Provincial Government of Laguna (PGL) was forged on July 23, 1997 to establish a Day Care Resource Center (DCRC) at the UPLB Campus. It is a joint project of UPLB through the College of Human Ecology’s Department of Human and Family Development Studies and the Provincial Government of Laguna through the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (DSWD).

Palace not worried on new NBN witness

Malacañang said it is not threatened by the possible appearance of a new witness in the national broadband deal and instead advised the Senate to come up with new rules of procedure to make its proceedings legally binding.

“The Palace is not concerned because based on historical events, they (Senators) never produce witnesses credible enough to come up with solid evidence that can stand in court,” Deputy Press Secretary Anthony Golez said.

Philippines to promote medical tourism

Cebu City - With the worldwide earnings from medical tourism expected to reach US $188B by year 2013, the Philippines wants to share a slice of the global market as government is focusing its efforts in promoting the medical and surgical services of the country’s capital abroad.

Department of Health (DOH-7) medical tourism regional program coordinator Dr. Cora-Lou Aznar in a PIA forum said the Philippines Medical Tourism Program is a private-public initiative aimed at attracting foreign clients to the country for medical and health and wellness care on top of leisurely vacation trips to tourist spots within the Philippines.

DFA prepares for global forum on migration

Lozada fails to attend CA hearing

Senate witness Rodolfo Lozada Jr. failed to appear Tuesday before the Court of Appeals (CA) for the continuation of the hearing on his petition for a writ of amparo.

The petition for a writ of amparo was filed in Lozada’s behalf by his brother, Arturo, over Rodolfo’s claim that he was kidnapped by government security forces after he arrived from Hong Kong in February to prevent him from testifying at the Senate hearing on the government’s botched $330-million national broadband network project with ZTE Corp. of China.
