Alagang Kapamilya: Bodybliss announces expansion of Physiotherapy services to Northern and Southwestern Ontario

Toronto, ON April 18, 2008 – Bodybliss Physiotherapy has signed a strategic alliance with Physiomed Health Inc. to provide physiotherapy services to residents of nursing homes and retirement homes in the Greater Toronto Area, Northern and Southwestern Ontario. Under this new partnership, Bodybliss will provide the human resources, technical support, and billing services to the operation. Physiotherapy services provided in nursing and retirement homes are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Western Union, the leader in money transfer in partnership with its agent Coco Banana, headed by Mr. and Mrs. Luis Tiangco, recently provided an unforgettable day for the caregivers in Toronto. The event was held at the South Hall of the Thornhill Community Center and was attended by over 100 caregivers, who were mostly Coco Banana customers. It was a truly significant event because aside from launching of the Care-giver Association of Canada, it was also supported by the Philippine Consulate and the Western Union top management themselves. Also, other benefactors were present to give their support to the caregivers were The BJ Michael Raymundo of The Filipino Channel (TFCko), Fe Sevilla of Canadian International Health Institute, Yoly Ladines of Markham Federation of Filipino-Canadian.

Government of Canada improves service at visa office in Manila, Philippines

Ottawa, February 7, 2008 — The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, today announced more immigration officers will be sent to the visa office in Manila, Philippines, to speed up the processing of applications.

It is estimated this initiative will incur one time construction costs of approximately $1.9 million.

Samahang Plaridel joins press freedom call

Samahang Plaridel, the association of veteran journalists and communicators, has added its voice to the growing clamor from different media organizations for government to stop threatening and harassing the media in the exercise of their profession.

In a resolution signed Tuesday and submitted to the Supreme Court, Departments of National Defense, the Interior and Local Government, and Justice, the Samahang Plaridel members said they “join their media brothers and sisters who are experiencing threats and harassments from government offices and functionaries arising from the November 29, 2007 incident at the Manila Peninsula Hotel.”
