YAK kicks off World Cup with free calls worldwide
Sunday, 06.27.2010, 09:26pm (GMT-5)

Canadians soccer fans score big with new offer

Toronto, Ontario, June 1, 2010 – When their team scores, Canadian soccer fans across the nation can now call their friends and family abroad – for free.  From June 11th to July 11th Yak is giving away free calls to all countries competing for the Cup with 10-10-925.  Soccer fanatics simply need to register online at www.yak.ca/soccer2010 before the end of the tournament to access their free calls.

“The World Cup is truly an amazing event unifying people with a love for soccer around the world,” said Nisha Amin, Director of Marketing, Globalive.  “Yak is about affordable connections with friends and family anywhere in the world and what better way to yak all about the Cup than with free calls?”

Once registered with the home phone number that they will be calling from, callers simply wait for the days that their country plays to make their free calls.  Any call up to fifteen minutes to any of the competing counties will be free when dialing 10-10-925 before the long distance number.  Any calls thereafter will simply be billed on their regular telephone bill at Yak’s 10-10-925 regular and affordable rates.  Free calling lines will be open every day starting June 11th and ending July 11th,  2010.  Free calls across Canada will also be made available for each Sunday during the World Cup to encourage Canadians to share all the news of the Cup with friends and family nationwide.

Further to the free calls, Yak is also offering up the chance to win free long distance calls to any country for one full year.  Each referral email entered upon online registration will equal one entry ballot that will automatically be entered into draw.  “We want as many people to share this as possible,” said Amin.  “This is a great way to bring together friends and family across Canada and each time you share you increase your chances of winning.”

Countries for which free calls will be given away during the promotional period include South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France, Argentina, Nigeria, North Korea, Greece, England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia, Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon, Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia, Brazil, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Honduras and Chile.

Details on how to register for free calls during the World Cup and ‘Free Calls for a Year’ contest can be found at www.yak.ca/soccer2010.   For all other information on Yak, visit www.yak.ca.
