Megaworld - " mega" - enormous, large, huge, humongous and added to the word World.......means large scale world or area...
Creditably, the largest Philippine real estate developer with over 33 simultaneous condos under construction in Metro Manila is no mean feat. Not counting itsdevelopment of homes in Cavite and Laguna.
Among the awards are from Euromoney, Finance Asia, and many other award giving bodies, Megaworld Corporation has been amongst the best in Asia - Best Employer in 2009, Most Well Managed Company, Best in Investor Relations, Superbrand, and many many more .
Truth to tell, its Chairman Andrew Tan is young ( in is early 50s) compared to the other tycoons. A visonary. Low profile. Unassuming, but recognized as amongst Asia's tycoons.
Megaworld also owns 49% of MacDonalds Restaurants in the Philippines, Emperador Brandy worldwide, Picnic in the USA, among other businesses.
At the rate Megaworld is changing the face of Metro Manila, you will no longer recognize most areas if you return home a few years from now.
Amon the townships developed by Megawold are - the Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City; the 24 hectares Manhattan Garden City in Araneta Center in Cubao; the 25 hectares Newport City at the Villmor Air Base across NAIA III, the 50 hectares McKinley Hill at Makati City, and the recent City Place at Binondo, Manila. Upcoming townships are in Iloilo City and Cebu City t
Aside from these townships, Megaworld has these big housing develpments- the Laguna Bel-Air in Sta. Rose, Laguna, Governors Hills in Dasmarinas, Cavite, the Sunrise Hills and Sta. Rosa Heightsin Cavite. Thousands of hmes have been built.
And so many condos rising in Makati City, Greenhills, Ermita, Quezon City , all over Metro Manila.
Now why am I so excited about this Megaowrld pheomenon ?
Beicause I personally experienced how it is to be at the receiving end of this phenomenon.
A little over 4 year ago, in late 2005 , Megaworld launched its towship project, the Newport City. I jumped into the bandwagon and bought one unit -based on thei easy terms of no down payment, interest free, until turnover date. Newport city is right across the new airport terminal. When I came home last April 2010y for ilipp, as promised, the condo was ready for occupancy and when I bought it in 2005 for PHP1.7M, it is now worth PHP3.7M - very clearly more than double what I acquired it for. I was ecstatic ! So now I am a proud owner of a unit at Nthaewport City. I felt that there was more to this than I knew.
During my recent visit to Taipei last April, I met three retired ladies from Dagupan City. They travell monthly to different parts of the world - Alaska, cruises, etc. So I wondered out loud, how could they afford this lidestyle ? Each one bought a condo and after turnover, rented it out, then started to buy another one until they each owned 5 condo units. After retiremet, they were enjoying rental incomes of over PHP200,000 a month. I started making my own calculations and made a silent decision to follow the footsteps of these three ladies. Their experience has inspired me to do the same. So now I am in my second condo acquisition and turnover is in 2012, where I shall again acquire my next unit. I think I will be on my way to achieving what these threhe e ladies have achieved financial freedom without considering our pension benefits.
This is the Megworld phenomon ! The astronomical growth of a stable company, the commitment to quality, the commitment to tmeliness, the commitment to housing people from all walks of life.
