| Marching to the tune of March by Anthony de

Well, the economy might remain in palliative care, but really I dont care, as i carelessly in wild abandon, merrily imbibed myself in the vibrant Fil-Canadian grouping in towering Toronto with its myriad fun activities.
The first fun salvo was the Induction of new menbers and Spring dance of the Association of Filioino-Canadian accountants. What a difference a year makes, an instant flashback, the first year I was in town, that was barely four years ago, I attended the AFCA affair, it was held in a multi-purpose crnter. This year, I was invited by my good friends Jess and Carmenchu Garvez, both active menbers, the event venue was at the posh St. Peter and Paul Banquest Hall. The place was cavernous top with high celing accented with chiffon drapes panels complete with stalwarts of efficient wait-staff. It was a seat down dinner as I devoured the steak-salmon combo with gusto. Notwithstanding ,the absence of the Fashion Police, the array of women were garbed in various elegant evening wear and the men mainly in their harry Rosen formal suit/ ( Read ||: buy local, to boost the economy and you can boast you've done your share ). The two great star of the evening affair was
Minerva Garcia ( I wonder if she was named after a Greek goddess of from an enchanted Fairy from Davao ) She is the super efficient Vice-President. The spotlight was ably shared by the devilishly handsome President Edgardo Gonzales, affectionately called Egay, blessed with a ravishingly beautifulwife named Malou and good looking children. The tandem of Egay and Minerva, has parlayed, a surge of projects like free tax clinics, a slew of seminars and the resurgence of new menbers. The evening guest speaker was no less Mr.Vince Pranjivan, the Deputy Comissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency of the Ontario Region. In his meaty speech the essence waas that the Federal Government is a great place for employment, that a lot of baby boomers are soon to retire and new young bloods are needed for the august agency. ( Hurry , start preparing the CV guys abd dolls ) As ever, Spring dance ensued, after all we are not known as fiesta people for that matter, literally, everyone in the well attended affair, trooped to the light fantastic in the ever spacious dance floor. Everyone, has a great time, the Lady behind me quipped ' are you also an accountant ? ) complete with a smile that split her broad face. I explicitly answered ' no, deaer I'm a Beauty Queen ". I noticed her chinky eyes, dissolved like a bamboo slit, Touche !
The Filipiniana Cultural and Social Club, recenly had the Queen of Hearts |Ms. Filipinas 2009 coronation and Ball. The beauty title holders were, her Majesty Monica Esquibal with consort Owen Franco, First Princess, Jhunalene Viernes with Consort Jhon Viernes and second Princess Nikki Ochaoa with consort Michael Galitane. It was held at the Holy Cross Parish in Cosburne AVenue, as usual dancing notably the line dancig variety wasever popular and a light prepared dinner set on a white styrofoam was dished out to the guest in exchange with the ticket stub. The President of the Club Luis Ignacio Jr. extended his profound gratitude for all the active menbers and able supporter for the decade long club. The evening was also in honor of the memory of the late Founding President of the club, the late Mrs. Paula Ignacio. My presence in that affair was thru the intercession and kind invitation of Mrs Purisima Robertson with her dapper looking white canadian husband, John R. One of the highlight of the evening activity was the dance exibition of Michele Schober and Gilberto Mesina. Both were excellent dancers, that I thought, they just step out from the studio of the hit show " So you think you can dance |" and to show us fleetingly, what great , fun dancing is all about.
