Giselle-Kris concert
Friday, 04.25.2008, 10:13pm (GMT-5)

Giselle Sanchez had a misunderstanding with singer Kris Lawrence when the two of them took part in a fundraising concert in Strumms, Makati City, on March 12. The comedienne was hosting the said concert, which was to raise funds for musician Bell Cruz who is undergoing dialysis. Kris Lawrence apparently got irritated when he misinterpreted Giselle's comedic hosting style during the concert. She asked him to tell the audience more about him-self, this did not sit well with the Star In a Million grand winner in 2006. During the Manay Po 2: Over-load press conference last March 13, Giselle narrated what happened during the said event. "The event or-ganizer gave me the name of Kris Lawrence without giving me the name of his band. Dapat banda muna niya then si Kris. Ang nangyari, when I called him, wala yung banda niya, so he couldn't perform. He was holding the mic and I asked him, ‘Do you want me to help you?' He said, ‘Yes, please.'

"I stood up and told him, ‘Maybe, you can let them know who you are.' Parang nainis siya. Sabi na lang niya, ‘You know what, I'll just play the key-boards.' Tapos pinaalis niya si Carding Cruz Jr., [a music icon in the 1960s]. Nagpapatawa ako, sabi ko, ‘Naku, Kris, alam mo ba kung sino yung pinaalis mo? Si Carding Cruz Jr. ‘yan!"

"Kasi parang naoffend si Carding," explained Giselle, who wanted to lighten the mood by cracking jokes. "Saka mga kamag-anak niya yung nandito, baka batuhin ka ng kamatis. Parang joke lang, kaya lang, napikon ‘ata siya.

The comedienne continued: "Nung tutugtog na siya, nagwalk-out..umalis. Sabi ko sa audience, nag-

walk-out po si Kris Lawrence dahil hindi ko po siya kilala. Nagalit siya."

"Sinabihan ako ng manager na medyo naoffend daw si Kris. So nung nasa stage ako, sabi ko sa kanya. Kris, I'm just kidding. I'm a comedian so wag-

ka sana mapikon. Hindi niya ako pinansin." Later that night, R&B singer Jay-R called on Kris to per-form, which he did willingly. When Giselle saw Kris outside the venue, she made the peace sign and told Kris, "Peace, pare!" However, Kris did not acknow-ledge her peace offering. Despite the incident, the concert was a resounding success, the performers were able to raise P3 million for Bell Cruz.

Giselle is part of the Regal Entertainment movie Manay Po 2: Overload, a riotous gay comedy to be shown in cinemas nationwide starting April 16. The movie stars Rufa Mae Quinto, Cherry Pie Picache, and her three gay sons played by Polo Ravales, John Prats and Jiro Manio.

The comedienne will also be performing this Sat-urday, March 15, with Lea Salonga, Gary Valencia-no, Pilita Corrales, Pinky Marquez, and Marissa Sanchez (8 pm) in the Music Museum for the benefit of rape victims under the wing of the Third World Movement Against the Exploitation of Women.
