The Philippine Teachers Association of Canada (PTAC) held its 4th Annual Family Picnic on June 19th,2010 at the Earl Bales Park, Toronto,  Ontario in suport of the PIDC's yearly salu-salo coinciding with the celebratiion of  Rizal Day and the 112th Philippines's Independence Day Celebration.

Led by Tony A. San Juan, PTAC president, the 55-member samahan ng mga guro enjoyed the sunny Saturday fellowship and fun-filled gathering together with their professional colleagues, friends, guests, and family members.

Among those who celebrated at the yearly event are : Joan Ang, Sam Posadas, Pet Collantes, Noemi Andaya, Bernadette Gapuz, Arthur & Rose Apilado, Redentor & Trina Andres, Cielito Drapeza, Maricon Bernasor, Marissa Miana, Loida Mutuc, Grace Avila, Ramon and Leilani Morales, Alice Marie Bayog, Patricia Marcos, Erlyn Simanero, Ma. Sonia Pascual, Rowelyn Erese, Ma. Grace Pagalilauan, Rowena Roque, Imelda Axibal, Liza Reyes, Sally Guerina, and Joy Acuna- San Juan.

Sharing their potluck of continental, Canadian, and Philippine dishes, the picknickers enjoyed the fiesta-atmosphere and parade - walk in the park organized and sponsored by PIDC.

PTAC, organized in 2006 by Leone Manzanares, Rose Cruz, Tony San Juan, Rose Apilado and Brigida Lorenzo- Cohen, is composed of former Philippine teachers as well as practicing, Ontario Certified Teachers ( OCTs) in the GTA school boards. Currently, it offers and undertakes projects and programs benefitting its teacher-members and the FILCAN general community,as well.

Amongst its ongoing initiatives are : Professional Resources Outreach Project(PROP) ; Professional  Development Program( PDP), Professional Assistance for Certification (PACE);Project TeaCh Mentoring Service ; Employment Assistance & Resource Network( EARN); Focus Registered Teachers Exchange ( FORTE) and other endeavours are in the pipeline.
