Mississauga - Fifteen years of organizing, helping and dedicated work for our youth is a commitment that the officers of the Peel Halton Youth Basketball Association will be very proud of doing in the community. Along with the partnership of many organizations, sport clubs, individuals and parents, PHYBA reached the 15 years milestone of doing something good for the youth.
To celebrate, the officers held a Dinner and Dance Night at the Novotel Hotel last June 6, 2010 in a dress-affair event with a Brazilian Night theme. It was indeed a sultry and exotic night as the samba girls dancing to the beat of Brazilian music to the delight and excitement of the many guests of the evening. Basketball groups from Vaughan, Grizzlies, NorthStars, MYAA-Jaguars, Phil-Can, Lakan, Pito, NYPAA, T.O. Falcons, Jayhawks, MYBA, and others attended in full force to celebrate with PHYBA. Community group from the Gateway Centre and other professionals, Mr. Ed and Dr. Annette Sabbun-Simbulan, Pastor Julius Tiangson and wife Bunny attended the party in support of PHYBA.
Dr. Chito Collantes of CWSS, gave a community remark, as he implored the good works of the officers of PHYBA to the community that must be emulated. International Orchestra 2000 of Rudy Villanueva and Jack Malixi added the exotic music to the ambience of the Brazilian Night. It was indeed a night to remember, complete with music, dancers, wine and more music. But not to forget, the main purpose of the night was to raise funds in order that PHYBA could continue the different basketball programs for the youth. Even at the night of celebration, PHYBA officers put their commitment first ahead of everything.
