The 22nd Ricky Lee Workshop, named after the celebrated screenwriter and facilitator, kicked off on Sunday with what appears to be a star-studded batch.
No less than premiere movie actress Bea Alonzo signed on to learn the rigors and art of scriptwriting from Lee in a series lectures and training that will go on for four weeks.
Besides Bea, other actresses were also spotted on Day 1 of the coveted workshop, among them Vaness del Moral, Mikoy Morales and Candy Pangilinan, as well as noted directors Nestor Abrogena, Jay Altarejos, Prime Cruz and Sheron Dayoc.
Alongside the workshop opening, the limited edition Ricky Lee Film Screenwriting Workbook also saw its launch, which The Roving Eye — a proud owner of a copy — guarantees is very helpful in guiding aspiring filmmakers in scriptwriting.

Showbiz should be proud of one of its own, Manila’s new Mayor Isko Moreno, who earned praises from his constituents and beyond for his performance in the first week as city executive.
Even the Department of Interior and Local Goverment (DILG) commended the returning public servant in effectively clearing Divisoria and Blumentritt of illegal vendors. He showed he meant business when he personally led the operations that have seen eased traffic in these major thoroughfares.
Like he said during the campaign, Mayor Isko’s dream is to bring back Manila’s glory days as the capital of the Philippines.
“Ito ang unang major city ng Pilipinas na nakikita ng mga bisita natin galing sa ibang bansa kaya dapat lamang na ito ay maayos at malinis,” he declared. He asks only for the cooperation of Manilenos to make it happen.
