A 5.3-quake rocked Quezon province on Friday afternoon and was felt in various parts of Metro Manila (National Capital Region or NCR) and Luzon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs recorded the epicenter of the quake at 39 kilometers northwest of Burdeos, Quezon at 4:28 p.m.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 62 kilometers.
Intensity 5 was felt in Burdeos and Infanta, Quezon; Los Baños and Pakil, Laguna; Intensity 4 in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Quezon City; Marikina City; Sta. Cruz, Laguna; and Alabat and General Nakar, Quezon;
Intensity 3 was recorded in Guinayangan, Quezon; Muntinlupa City; Manila; San Jose del Monte, Bulacan; Bacoor, Cavite; Maddela, Quirino; San Mateo, Rizal; Baler, Aurora; and Lucena City, Quezon.
Intensity 2 was felt in Dingalan, Aurora; Mandaluyong City; Apalit, Pampanga; Taguig City; and Lucban, Quezon,
Meanwhile, Intensity 1 was recorded in San Isidro and Gapan City, Nueva Ecija; and Meycauayan, Bulacan.
A 5.1-tectonic aftershock immediately followed at 5:18 p.m. and was recorded at 34 kilometers northeast of Burdeos, Quezon.
It had a depth of 11 kilometers.
Intensity 5 was felt in Polillo, Quezon; Intensity 4 in Quezon City; and Intensity 2 in Guinayangan, Quezon.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected.
No casualties were reported as of press time.
