Back in July, ABS-CBN star Liza Soberano was greeted by her fans with signs and flowers when she came home to the Philippines after being away from the country for two-and-a-half months.
It will be remembered that the 21-year-old actress decided to withdraw from her role as Darna in April due to a fractured index finger that led her to flying to the US to undergo a series of surgeries.
She suffered the injury while filming for the fantaserye “Bagani” in 2018. She revealed then after the operation that her finger will never function the same way again.
As a result, her doctor advised her to take two extra months of rest and recovery and is not allowed to engage in sports or physical activity.
While she is still in the recovery stage, Soberano happily faced the press last week after being named as Jollibee’s newest celebrity endorser. According to her, she is just glad that the surgeries are finally done with and that she doesn’t have to worry about it anymore.
“I feel a lot healthier and stronger, and even more inspired to work harder kasi ever since that injury, parang I lost confidence talaga in myself. A lot of people know that. So now, I feel at my 100 percent best and I am just excited to start working,” Soberano said in an ambush interview.
“Mas maingat din ako sa mga ginagawa ko kasi it’s not fully healed yet. So I still have to take that into consideration. But I don’t want it to get in the way of everything, like parang lagi kong kailangan isipin ‘Ay hindi kaya ng daliri kong gawin ‘to.’ But since I’m in the stage of healing pa lang, I have to be a little bit careful. But, hopefully in the future, I can play volleyball again, I can do outdoor activities like I used to,” Soberano continued.
While her LizQuen loveteam with real-life boyfriend Enrique Gil has kept a low profile the past few months since their time in the US, Soberano encouraged their fans to not be disappointed or sad anymore as they will star in another teleserye soon. This is just after their successful movie “Alone/Together” back in February.
“We’re going to be working in a teleserye. Ang masasabi ko lang, na lagi naming sinasabi na iba siya kasi iba naman talaga, kakaibang character siya. But I really feel like since coming from ‘Alone/Together,’ we showed more mature characters. Of course, mature pa rin yung characters na ipu-portray namin. But this time, I feel like it’s going to have a lighter touch. It’s going to be something fun. We’re going to take risks, something outside of our box,” Soberano related.
“I would say mature this time kasi minsan ang iniisip ng mga tao kapag mature ka is like sexy. Mas mature siya in the character’s choices, the choices that they have to deal with and the decisions that they make in their lives. So that’s how they’re mature. But I would say si Quen medyo sexier siya in this show,” she enthused.
According to her, they will be shooting out of the country which makes her more excited.
“I actually heard about doing it in Croatia. Hindi lang ako sure because they’re still talking about it. Pero sana. I think Croatia is a beautiful country that hasn’t really been explored yet by the Philippine media,” she revealed.
“But I’m just very excited because I feel like this is going to be my most difficult characters to portray and that excites me because it’s a challenge. It also makes me nervous kasi I really want to be able to pull it off. But I’m more excited for it. And I am excited to do a teleserye that is rom-com,” Soberano added.
Since being paired with a different actor outside a loveteam is now becoming a trend after the success of “Hello, Love, Goodbye” of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, Soberano then was asked if she is open to be working with other leading men beside Enrique Gil.
“Actually we’ve always been open to working with other people kasi kahit noong time namin ni Quen na nagsu-shoot ng movies and teleseryes, he was doing other movies outside [the loveteam], but not with other leading women yet like ginawa niya yung ‘Tukod’ and ‘Seven Sundays’ which is more family-centric. Pero napag-usapan naman namin yun. We’re really open to working with other people,” Soberano shared.
“Kasi, as actors we feel like we’ll grow more when we meet other people too. So I think that’s good, like a good breather for us and for our fans as well. Pero hindi naman mawawala yung LizQuen. So feeling ko kahit mag-work kami with other people, there will always be a comeback moment for us. We will always have movies and teleseryes after that,” she ended.
