OPPO upbeat on increasing share

OPPO Philippines is optimistic that it would secure a greater share in the Philippine smartphone market, a company executive said, as the firm launched its newest handset.

At the unveiling of the OPPO A9 2020 smartphone in Makati City on Thursday night, OPPO Philippines Marketing Director Raymon Xia said that, while the industry was facing tougher competition, the company expected to gain greater traction with Filipino consumers, especially with the Christmas season approaching.

“By the end of the year, I’m sure we will [post a] better performance. As you know Christmas season is coming. [It’s] a booming season for us,” he told reporters.

During his presentation, Xia said OPPO Philippines clinched a 28-percent market share in the second quarter.

Asked what drove the growth, he said OPPO Philippines continued to invest in research and development to bring new technologies to the local market.

“Consumers love our products, because of the quality and technology…. Also, [our devices have] advanced technologies [at] affordable prices,” the marketing director added.

According to him, the firm’s local and global teams’ efforts to boost brand presence show that the “Philippine market [is] one of our top priorities in [the] Asia-Pacific market.”

During the launch, OPPO Philippines highlighted the features of the 6.5-inch A9 2020. These include a 16-megapixel (MP) front camera and a 48 MP quad camera on the

back, offering ultrawide 119-degree rear lens for panoramic pictures.

It is installed with a 5000 milliampere hours (mAh) battery, 128 gigabytes (GB) worth of storage and 8 GB of random access memory.

The A9 2020 is powered by Snapdragon 665 and Game Boost 2.0 to offer usersmore responsive gaming experience.

The smartphone, which costs P15,990 and will be available in space purple and marine green, will hit stores next month.
