How close are we to ‘Climaggedon’?  (Last of two parts)

October 13, 2019

At the latest, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a forum of 195 nations, approved toward the end of September a major report detailing the dire impact of global warming on oceans and the Earth’s frozen zones.

The report concludes that global warming and pollution caused by humanity’s carbon-heavy footprint are ravaging the Earth’s oceans and key regions in ways that could unleash misery on a global scale.

A ticking timebomb

Meanwhile, environmental abuse goes on unchecked, and so does the now seemingly irreversible global warming. Who knows how fast the world is moving closer to Climaggedon!

“It’s a ticking time bomb no one knows how to defuse,” warned concerned environmentalists.

A more conservative estimate puts the doomsday clock to as far forward as 50 to 100 years. Yet, in his book Global Warming – A Short Introduction, Mark Marlin states that there is recent scientific evidence that many past climate changes have occurred with startling speed.

Just how grave the imminent danger is to mankind? While scientists insist it would take some 60 percent emission reduction to stop global warming dead in its tracks, the world’s industrial giants appear bent only on a 10-percent limit. If so, it would be like trying to extinguish a fire with only a glass of water!

Turning to the one who knows

Keen students of Bible prophecy, however, appear to have found the key to understanding how global pollution will ultimately end. They point to a particular verse in the last book of the Bible, the Revelation.

Interestingly, what they have to say predicts, not just a scary scenario but one that bodes well for mankind and Planet Earth.

“But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18)

Will divine intervention come just in the nick of time to stop global warming?

That Bible prophecy, written by the Christian apostle John at the end of the first century C.E. (Common Era), evidently is to occur in our modern times. For is it not at this stage of history that men, with their advanced technology and height of greed, are actually “ruining the earth”?

Yet, it is unthinkable for God, in his great concern for the human race and the planet which he has created perfectly to serve the best interests of mankind, to ever allow his marvelous masterpiece of creation to be ruined beyond recall! After all, the rest of Bible prophecies clearly indicate that Jehovah God has willed obedient humans to live eternally on earth.

“Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more… But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace… The righteous will possess the earth. And they will live forever on it.” (Psalms 37:10, 11, 29)

Paradise Earth, at last!

Can we imagine what life on Earth will be like when all evildoers are gone for good? And only the meek and righteous will be dwelling together in the “abundance of peace” and harmony? With an everlasting lifetime ahead of them, will they not work together to make this planet a real paradise?

Indeed, a worthy reward for the faithful! And a great credit to their Creator!

“For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,” declares Jehovah, “thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
