EducAid Asia (formerly known as the ASEAN Intellectual Development Project) started off 2020 with a bang. Founded by Chris Mills, the Trent University student group collects textbooks and other books to donate to underprivileged rural schools and libraries in the Philippines. UMAC Toronto generously partnered with the students and sponsored the entire shipment from Peterborough to the Philippines.
The students initially feared that the shipment might not arrive in the Philippines in time for their winter break. Fortunately, UMAC was able to deliver the boxes weeks ahead of schedule and transferred them to the custody of the Asia CEO Forum founded by Chris and Alex Mill’s parents, Rebecca Bustamante Mills and Richard Mills. When Chris Mills, Alex Mills and Petra Varadi visited the Philippines during their Christmas break from school in Canada, they personally delivered the boxes to Dasol Integrated School, the Sual Municipal Government and the Pangasinan Provincial Library. Chris Mills and his team are continuing their goal of supporting libraries and improving educational standards across Asia.
