A suspected American pedophile who is wanted in the United States for the alleged sexual exploitation of a Filipino minor was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) during a joint operation in San Manuel, Pangasinan on Monday.
According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, the suspect was identified as Michael Kent Clapper, 69, who was arrested by operatives from the BI Fugitive Search Unit, the Women and Children Protection Center and Police Regional Office Region 1 via a mission order upon the request of the US Embassy in Manila.
The embassy sought the BI’s assistance in apprehending Clapper due to his involvement in possible sexual exploitation of a minor in the Philippines. Reports alleged that the victim, a 12-year-old girl, was in an inappropriate relationship with the suspect.
It also reported that Clapper’s passport was already expired, thus he is now an undocumented alien who is subject for summary deportation.
Clapper is temporarily detained at the San Miguel Police headquarters pending release of his swab test for the coronavirus disease. If he tests negative, he will be committed to the BI Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig City where he will remain until he is deported.
