The famous Roxas night Market in Davao city has re-opened Saturday six months after it was temporarily shut down following the declaration of national health emergency because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Angel Sumagaysay, Roxas night market head said in a radio interview that only 80 market goers will be allowed inside the market as strict security and Covid-19 protocols will be implemented in the area.
This was the second time the night market which was opened in 2013 was shut down.
On 2 September 2016, it was ordered closed after an improvised bomb exploded killing at least 14 people and scores injured. The Abu Sayyat group has claimed responsibility of the attack.
The Roxas night market is considered as one of the favorite destinations of both local and foreign tourists for its streets foods and ukay-ukay(second hand merchandise.
An estimated 3,000-market goers visit the night market every day before it was shut down in March this year.
