Tropical Storm Leon has exited the Philippine area of responsibility but it is pulling the southwest monsoon and causing rains in the Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said.
The center of Leon was located at 360 kilometers north of Kalayaan, Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It was moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
Tomorrow morning, Leon will be 650 kilometers north, northwest of Kalayaan Islands, Palawan heading towards Vietnam.
“Leon” will enhance the southwest monsoon, causing light to moderate and at times heavy rains over MIMAROPA, Bicold Region, Visayas, Caraga, Aurora and Quezon.
Intermittent gusts may be experienced over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, MIMAROPA and Western Visayas due to the southwest monsoon.
A gale warning was raised over the western seaboards of Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales and Bataan due to rough to very rough seas.
Sea travel will be risky over these areas.
