TUPAD beneficiaries get cash aid

More than 1,000 marginalized workers from the Davao first district received cash assistance through the office of House Deputy Speaker Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte at The People’s Park in Davao recently.

Duterte, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), distributed cash assistance to workers affected of the crisis brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The workers were among the thousand regular beneficiaries who received cash aid from the government’s assistance program Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), to mitigate the impact of the national health emergency due to COVID-19.

“Beneficiaries were residents of the 54 barangays under the first district. They were earlier assigned with different chores under the 10-day work program. We are all here to heal as one,” said Duterte.

The registered beneficiaries received P3,960 cash assistance based on the prevailing highest minimum wage in Davao Region as per the Labor department.

Duterte’s office has been providing assistance — focusing on the poorest of the poor — to residents/beneficiaries from 54 barangays in the first district.
