Two crew members were injured when fire hit a vessel in waters off Shell Island, Cebu City, early Monday.
Members of the Coast Guard put out the fire and rescued the injured, who suffered first to second-degree burns, according to a report from the PCG.
The fire hit the engine room of MTUG Super Shuttle 3 around 3:30 a.m. while the vessel was heading for Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City.
The PCG deployed personnel aboard BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406) to combat the blaze. The team declared the fire under control at 4:30 a.m. and put it out 5:05 a.m.
The rescued crew members were brought to Pier 3, Cebu City, where a PCG ambulance received then transported them to the nearest hospital.
Around 5:30 a.m., MTUG Super Shuttle 3 was safely towed by MTUG Tyl to Ouano Wharf.
