Leyte Fourth District Representative Lucy Gomez-Torres stressed recently the need to focus first on the needs of the people and their welfare before politics.
This comes after the lady solon emerged third on a recent survey conducted by WR Numero Search that aimed to identify the public’s preferred senators in the coming 2022 Philippine national elections among 35 potential candidates.
Torres-Gomez noted that while she was flattered with the survey’s result, engaging in politics this early has not crossed her mind.
“I am so flattered, but right now, I am focused on measures and bills that should be immediately passed to ensure the public’s welfare and the nation’s progress,” said Torres-Gomez. “It has not crossed my mind.”
The survey also disclosed that Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero has topped the poll conducted to 5,000 respondents nationwide, followed by incumbent Senator Win Gatchalian and Torres-Gomez.
Incumbent senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Risa Hontiveros, Francis Pangilinan, and Richard Gordon were also included in the top 12 in the survey that used the quota sampling method based on sub-groups including geographic location, age, gender, and income to achieve a proportional representation of the population.
The survey was conducted on 2 to 7 November 2020 and utilized a river sampling technique which is defined as a web-based opt-in sampling approach, creating a sample of respondents for a single survey or a panel for repeated surveys over time.
