BAGUIO CITY — A former policeman was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital after he drowned in the swimming pool of M-BREE Resort in Barangay Caburao, Santiago, Ilocos Sur at around 8:30 p.m. of 3 December 2020.
The victim was identified as Jerey Ramirez Galutan, 45 and a resident of Barangay Elefante, Banayoyo, Ilocos sur.
According to the investigation of the Santiago Municipal Police, the victim and his friends went to the resort for a picnic. His companion noticed moments later that Galutan is missing.
They searched for Galutan until they saw his body floating on the deepest area of the swimming pool. His companions immediately tried to revive him before rushing him to the Candon City General Hospital. He did not make it.
Moments later, a scooter rider was killed in a scooter-motorcycle collision along the National Highway in Barangay Quinarayan, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. The incident happened at around 9:20 Pm of the same date.
The fatality was Raymund Banta Figuerras, 24, and a resident of Barangay Quinarayan, Narvacan. The other rider was identified as Mark Wilson de la Rosa Decano, 22 and a resident of Barangay Ampuagan, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
According to the Narvacan Municipal Police, the Honda Dio scooter driven by Figuerras was heading north when it bumped head-to-head with the Motoposh Motorcycle driven by Decano at the middle of the highway.
The two riders were rushed to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital (ISDH) in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur by responders. ISDH medical attendants declared Figuerras dead on arrival.
