BAGUIO CITY — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) hunted down drug personalities and managed to overrun illegal dens over the weekend.

The first day of buy-bust operations on Friday resulted in the arrest of 26-year-old Gerold Yango in Baguio City.

He was reported by his neighbors, particularly those residing along Mirador Dominican Road, as a drug peddler and bully.

He also allegedly becomes rowdy and vandalize properties, along with his companions, whenever they were high on drugs.

By the break of the dawn on Saturday, PDEA Baguio operatives infiltrated a drug den inside Palangdao Building in Barangay Kayang Hilltop.

They arrested operator Francis Juan Conting and five others. Some 50 grams of suspected shabu, assorted ammunition, drug paraphernalia and mobile phones were confiscated.

Conting has long been the subject of law enforcement operations, often eluding arrest because his alleged “connections” warned him.

His mobile phone will be subjected to further investigation to determine his contacts and handlers.

PDEA Cordillera Administrative Region director Gil Castro and police regional chief R’win Pagkalinawan recommitted their operational and tactical support to each other’s commands to fight their common enemies: crime and drug syndicates.

They assured the public they will stop illegal drugs for a better and safer Cordillera.

“PDEA and the police will work together to breach the stronghold of drug targets,” their joint statements read.

“We keep our lines open, we sit together, we fight together and we win together in the drug war for a better Cordillera.”
