Five former rebels wave white flag

NUEVA ECIJA — Five former rebels surrendered to the government in this province on Friday due to the efforts of Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC).

Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Regional Director PB Gen Valeriano de Leon identified the former rebels as Ka Joey/Ka Lowie, 56 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Barangay Sta. Clara, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija; Ka Bong, 50 years old, married and resident of Barangay Bagong Barrio, Guimba, Nueva Ecija; Ka Cristy, 47 years old, married and resident of Barangay Bagong Barrio, Guimba, Nueva Ecija; Ka Aries, 41 years old, married, full time pastor and a resident of Barangay Ganaderia, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija; and Ka Norma, 43 years old, married, farmer and resident of Barangay Culaylay, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

De Leon disclosed that Ka Joey is a former Political Guide under Arcadio Peralta command in 1991 to 1999 while Ka Bong is a former Provincial Commander of Tarlac and Zambales Province under Arcadio Peralta command in 1987 to 2016 and Ka Cristy is a former Political Guide in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales Province under Arcadio Peralta command in 1989 to 1996.

Ka Aries, meantime, is a former Assistant Provincial Commander of Anak Pawis, former Provincial Committee member and Platoon Commander Larangan Dos (2) under Josepino Corpus command in year 1993 to 2003 and in year 2005- 2012 while Ka Norma is a former member of Militia ng Bayan under Josepino Corpus command in 2003 to 2012.

The five former rebels turned over a .45 caliber pistol STI Edge with one magazine and four live rounds, a 9mm pistol Llama with one magazine and three live rounds, two subversive documents (Katibayan ng Pagtatapos ng Dental- Medical 1 and 2 and Katibayan ng Pagtatapos sa Batayang Kursong Opisyal) and books Batayang Kurso ng Partido Aklat III.
