Pangasinan fishermen get needed boost

LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN — The Provincial Government of Pangasinan — led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAg) — recently provided machineries and fishing supplies to 21 fisherfolk associations at the Provincial Freshwater Fish Hatchery, Barangay Libsong East.

In a statement, Governor Amado Espino III disclosed that the distribution is part of the Abig Pangasinan program that aims to help fisherfolk increase their livelihood.

The Provincial Government provided the 21 fisherfolk associations with 210 gill nets, four water pumps with axial flow pipes, four smoking chambers with gas stove and fish processing supplies, and two pond seine nets.

Provincial Freshwater Fish Hatchery Division OIC Zenaida Ugaban, on the other hand, said that the beneficiaries should take care of these machineries and supplies provided by the Provincial Government.

She added that they should continue to persevere despite the pandemic to provide much needed food for Pangasinan as their way of giving back to the government.
