KALIBO, Aklan — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas (WV) denied reports that it had allegedly coerced their livelihood beneficiaries to share their benefits.
DSWD-WV regional director for administration Evangeline Feleco disclosed that the agency has received informal reports that an alleged scheme in Zarraga, Iloilo was coercing beneficiaries to share a portion of their benefits.
At least two beneficiaries of the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) have been allegedly coerced to set up their kiosks.
The regional agency has given out assistance funds of up to P15,000 as recovery interventions for low income families and in Zarraga, the DSWD has given some P4.4 million of livelihood assistance to 295 recipients.
Feleco stressed that the allegations are unfounded as the beneficiaries voluntarily set up the agreement with the DSWD.
