MisOr taxi drivers, Calasiao displaced workers get aid

The Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go continued to extended much-needed aid to those who were adversely affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The senator’s team provided assistance to taxi drivers in Misamis Oriental (MisOr) totaling 320 beneficiaries who were affected by the pandemic in an activity held at Barangay Nazareth Gym in Cagayan de Oro City.

Over at Pangasinan, the group gave assistance to the identified displaced and vulnerable workers of Calasiao — a total of 3,307 beneficiaries, composed of 2,373 members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association, 371 jeepney drivers and 563 market vendors — who have lost their livelihoods or jobs due to Covid-19 at the Calasiao Sports Complex.

Go’s team distributed meals, vitamins, masks and face shields while strictly complying with health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of the deadly respiratory disease.

Selected beneficiaries received new shoes during the activity while others were provided with bicycles by Go’s team, while others were also given computer tablets to help their children access educational materials at home.

A team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also separately distributed financial assistance to the beneficiaries.
