Sheridan Smith releasing her first memoir later this year

Sheridan Smith has announced she is set to release her first memoir later this year.

The 39-year-old said that ahead of her 40th birthday in June she had been reminiscing on both “good and bad” memories, realising she had “a story to tell”.

The book, Honestly, will be published by Ebury Spotlight in October.

“In the build up to my 40th birthday, I’ve been reminiscing with friends and family about all the stories over the years,” she explained in an Instagram post.

“Some good memories and some bad but all part of my story. It was through these conversations that it suddenly dawned on me…I had a story to tell and here it is! I am so excited to share Honestly with you this October.”

The award-winning actor has an impressive list of credits to her name after extensive work in TV and theatre over the years.

She won a Bafta for her portrayal of Charmian Biggs in drama Mrs Biggs and is the recipient of two Olivier Awards for roles in Legally Blonde and Flare Path.

Last year saw her settle into a different kind of role as she became a mother for the first time to son Billy, whom she shares with fiancé Jamie Horn.

Smith has also been open about her struggles with her mental health and panic attacks, something she’s set to touch upon on in the memoir.

A description of the book from the publishers reads: “Packed with showbiz adventure, funny and warm, but dark times and heartbreak too. This is the real Sheridan Smith, the incredible woman behind that prodigious talent.
