ZAMBOANGA CITY — Islamic school teachers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) who failed to have government eligibility can now hold a permanent position in the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).
In a statement, MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that asatidz and mudarris who teaches in Madaris or Islamic schools in BARMM can take special eligibility examinations to keep their teaching post under the new education code enacted by the Bangsamoro Parliament.
To recall, the Bangsamoro Parliament approved on Tuesday the Bangsamoro Education Code, a measure that will provide for the establishment, management, and support of a complete and integrated quality education system in the region.
Iqbal said the MBHTE shall grant special license to those who passed the examination for asatidz and mudarris, adding that all graduates with Latin honors from a recognized university or institution of higher learning in Arabic and Islamic Studies — whether local or international — are exempted from the special qualifying examination and shall be deemed to have met the eligibility requirement for permanent appointment to Mudarris positions.
