The PBA is scheduled to inspect the three wooden courts that could be used as practice venues if plans for teams to practice in Batangas City push through.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and his staff will head to his hometown Friday, May 7, to visit not only the Batangas City Sports Center but also the campuses of Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas and the Batangas State University.

Marcial will talk with Batangas City Mayor Beverley Dimacuha, fifth district representative Marvey Marino and Batangas State University president Tirso Ronquillo, according to a story published by the PBA’s official site.

Batangas City gave its nod in allowing PBA teams the option to practice in the city since it is currently under General Community Quarantine. Training sessions, however, will be divided into groups based on the said guideline.

But the league has appealed to the Inter-Agency Task Force if teams can hold 5-on-5 scrimmages in GCQ areas.

If the IATF gives a thumbs up sign, the PBA could be well on its target to start the 46th season later this month or by early-June, depending if COVID-19 cases go down as discussed in a meeting with Sen. Bong Go and executive secretary Salvador Medialdea.

Marcial also didn’t rule out the possibility of tapping Batangas City as a possible venue for the season, though it received an offer from Ilocos Norte in the event the PBA opts to hold another bubble.
