2 die as motorcycle crashes into Army APC in Sulu


Two men died when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into an armored personnel carrier (APC) of the Army, in Patikul, Sulu, the military confirmed Thursday.

The fatalities were identified as Adzmar Jalil and Darwin Jalil, according to a statement from the Army’s 1102nd Brigade.

The incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, in Brgy. Kan Ague.

Initial investigation by the local police indicated that the Jalils’ motorcycle first hit a fishball vendor’s cart, lost its balance, then crashed into the approaching APC assigned to the 1102nd Bde.

Brig. Gen. Benjamin Batara, Army 1102nd Bde commander, extended condolences to the fatalities’ families and assured that the involved soldiers will cooperate in the police’s investigation.

Officers of the brigade also reached out to the families of the deceased to personally express sympathies. The 1102nd Bde has also pledged to provide financial support to the bereaved families.
