Family of 4 found dead in Biñan home

A man, his common-law wife, and their two young children were found dead at their home in Biñan City, Laguna, on Tuesday afternoon, in what police suspect as a case of parricide followed by a suicide.

The fatalities were identified as Johnny Martinez, 46; his partner Jolly Espinas, 41; and their children Winston, 7, and Brixton Martinez, 1, according to a report from the city police.

Their bodies were found in different parts of their home along Bonifacio Street in Barangay Canlalay, around 1:00 p.m.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that Johnny killed his live-in partner and their children, then committed suicide by hanging, the report said.

According to police, Jolly, Winston, and Brixton died of head injuries, possibly inflicted with the use of a bloodied hammer found at the scene.

The children also had cloth facemasks stuffed into their mouths.

Johnny, on the other hand, was found hanging by the stairway with a nylon strap around his neck, while his hands were covered with blood, police said.

Neighbors told police that they heard Brixton crying around 11:00 p.m. Monday.

Investigators are also looking into claims that Johnny and Jolly couple were always quarreling about financial problems.
