Alaska marked its return from a lengthy absence due to COVID-19 protocols by frustrating defending champion Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 89-75, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The Aces scored the first six points of the match that set the tone for a one-sided affair despite having played their last game 15 days ago and moved to eighth place in the team standings with a 3-4 record.

A listless showing all throughout sent the Gin Kings to ninth spot at 4-6, assuring coach Tim Cone his first losing record since he took charge of the league’s most popular club in the 2015-16 season.
