Clever shabu slips foiled in Davao jail

More unique attempts to sneak shabu into Davao City Jail have been prevented in the past two days, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) reported.

On 19 October, 15 sachets containing a total of P32,000 worth of suspected shabu were found mixed into a viand brought to the Davao City Jail-Annex.

The sachets were found “strategically inserted” in the meat of a chicken-pork adobo dish, it said.

Photos made public by the regional BJMP unit showed that two persons were apprehended for bringing the viand during the jail’s “paabot” activity.

On 18 October, three sachets containing 25 grams or P400,000 worth of suspected shabu were found on a drone discovered near the jail in Brgy. Ma-a.

The drone, which was equipped with a camera, was found in Purok 25-B, People’s Village.

The latest attempts came a month after P256,000 worth of suspected shabu was found inside chillies mixed into “humba” and chicken adobo dishes brought to the jail on 7 October.

In June, sachets of the illegal drug were found hidden inside a basketball lobbed to the jail’s roof.
