KALIBO, Aklan — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Saturday disclosed that the eight-day filing for Certificates of Candidacy (CoC) in the country ahead of the 2022 national elections have been generally peaceful.
The PNP chief — who visited the Aklan Provincial Police Office in Camp Pastor Martelino in New Buswang — also extended his gratitude to his ground commanders for ensuring the safety of the conduct of CoC filing amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“The Philippine National Police did not receive any significant incident that affected the eight-day filing of CoC across the country. We attribute this to the preparations made by our unit commanders and the hard work of our personnel on the ground,” Eleazar said.
The visit of Eleazar is part of his duty as the PNP Chief as he is set to retire from the service in November this year. He also visited the Kalibo Municipal Police Station.
However, Eleazar noted that there was a lack of discipline among the supporters of some candidates for violation of rules of the Commission on Elections and health protocols which appeared to have been tolerated by the candidates themselves.
