It started with a dream of owning a property perched on top of the mountains with an overlooking view of a body of water, Mrs. Geng Rodriguez built the Highland Bali Villas Resort & Spa.
Unbeknown to her, the resort is now one of the most visited tourist destinations in Northern Philippines.
“I always had this dream of building a home on top of a mountain with a view surrounded by waters. I am from Cabanatuan (Nueva Ecija), so we don’t have a body of water there, just rice fields,” Rodriguez said in an interview with Gising Na!
Located in Purok 1, Sitio West Poblacion, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, the Highland Bali is the most modern resort with luxurious amenities in Central Luzon and this part of the North, boasting a breathtaking view of the Pantabangan Lake.
Built in 2018, the resort is the first Balinese-inspired destination resort with high-end facilities and services. It is known as Bali of the North because the whole area is meticulously inspired to infuse Balinese architecture and the unique Bali culture, mixed with the warm Filipino hospitality.
Although it has only been operating for only a few years and was even closed for several months due to travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2019, Highland Bali is famous with celebrities and prominent politicians who described the place as “paradise” because of the relaxing design of the villas, spa, and swimming pool overlooking the beautiful of Pantabangan Hills and Intang Lake.
Mrs. Rodriguez is also one with the Pantabangan local government and the provincial government of Nueva Ecija to stimulate and tourism in the province, which is often under the radar in our bucket list to visit and exclude in the travel plans of local and foreign tourists.
While on lockdown because of the pandemic, the province of Nueva Ecija has developed a comprehensive program to transform the region into a new tourist destination under their slogan ‘Nueva Ecija: Never-Ending fun and adventure.’
But Mrs. Rodriguez has an exciting story from the pandemic. She said that Highland Bali had gained the reputation of serving the best Spanish Bread that literally melts in your mouth!
“People go here just to buy our Spanish bread,” she said.
Many of their guests order it and have it delivered, she added.
Due to the influx of orders, she had to add staff to meet the growing volume of demand from Metro Manila to as far as Ilocos.
Highland Bali’s famous Spanish Bread.
Rodriquez said they are still considering whether to expand operations in Metro Manila for their Spanish Bread.
“Highland Bali is just here to sell its special Spanish Bread. This is the plan for now,” she said.
Highland Bali Villas, Resort, and Spa have 20 Balinese inspired rooms, eight premium villa pools, four suite villa pool, heated pool, eight junior suites with lake view, ground event area with infinity pool, 24-hour Information Desk, High-Speed Wi-fi Internet Connection, Wellness Center and diverse choice of Oriental and Traditional Massage, and a bar overlooking a lake.
