Go Negosyo founder Jose Maria “Joey” Concepcion 3rd on Monday thanked President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for his decision to do away with lockdowns in connection with the government’s pandemic response.

Instead of lockdowns, Marcos Jr. wants to reinstitute the government’s mass vaccination program against Covid-19 including the ramping up of booster shots.

“We are grateful to President Marcos for his assurance that there will be no more lockdowns that will be imposed in the country. This is what the private sector and MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) need as it will allow for full recovery from the pandemic,” Concepcion said in a statement.

“We will also help the President in his message of pushing for boosters so businesses can operate in full capacity and those face-to-face classes will be back in full, too. Go Negosyo, our advisory council of experts and the private sector are working on the ‘ISA PA’ campaign to encourage those who are due for boosters to get ONE MORE SHOT for their loved ones, for themselves, for the country,” he added.

While Concepcion fully supports Marcos’ stand, he urged the Chief Executive to reconsider maintaining the alert level system and go for the “stop light” approach.

“On the alert levels, we hope that the President can consider our recommendation of using green, yellow and red system as the administration explores to simplify restrictions as we live with the virus,” the former presidential adviser for entrepreneurship said.

“Under our proposed stop light system, green is based on two measures: the ADAR (average daily attack rate) and HCUR (health care utilization rate) — both leading indicators used all over the world. With Omicron as the variant our ACE (Advisory Council of Experts) say this it is highly unlikely a lockdown can be called using these factors as ADAR will have to be greater than 18 and HCUR at higher levels of 50 percent,” he added.
