Canadian rapper Drake has been under fire, after it was revealed last week that his privateplane flew from Toronto to Hamilton on a flight that lasted just 14 minutes.
The 35-year-old rapper responded to the criticism in a comment on a post byRealTorontoNewz on Instagram.
“This is just them moving planes to whatever airport they are being stored at for anyone who was interested in the logistics,” Drake stated. “Nobody takes that flight.”

The 35-year-old’s air travel was captured by an automated Twitter account, CelebJets, which tracks celebrity flights based on transponders and tail fin markings. The distance from Toronto to Hamilton is about 70 kilometres — which takes about an hour by car, depending on traffic.
According to the reports, Drake’s plane flewfrom Hamilton to Toronto on three separate occasions in June and July, the trips ranging between 14 to 18 minutes. Each of the flights reportedly emitted about five tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Although Drake’s explanation appears to clear him of taking these flights himself, some people have responded to his comment saying his clarification that the plane was flying empty “only makes it worse.”
Replies to his statement, while some are supportive, still accuse the rapper of being harmful to the environment as the plane “still uses the same amount of fuel whether it’s carrying people or not.”
