Two dead, baby injured following overnight crashes in Peel Region

Two people have been killed following separate overnight crashes in Peel Region.
Two people are dead and at least four injured, including a baby, following two separate crashes overnight in Peel Region.

Just after midnight on Sunday, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Creditview Road and Wanless Drive in Brampton.

In one vehicle was a family. The mother was rushed to hospital in critical condition, Peel police said in a tweet. She is now in stable condition. The baby, a girl, was also taken to hospital but is doing “fine,” police said.

A 20-year-old passenger was thrown from the second vehicle and died on scene. The driver of that vehicle was arrested for suspected impaired driving, police said.

Two hours before the Brampton crash, there was a fatal collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Derry Road and 9th Line in Mississauga.

Police say a 20-year-old male passenger has died from his injuries and the driver, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to a trauma centre and remains in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the second vehicle was a man in his 40s. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation of this collision remains ongoing.
