Lyceum shoots down Perpetual, extends winning run to four

Lyceum of the Philippines University extended its winning run to four games following a 82-77 conquest of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 82-77, Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Paco Arena.

Enoch Valdez had 13 points, three rebounds and two steals, Mac Guadaña chipped in 12 points while Shawn Umali added 10 points, eight boards and two steals for the Pirates.

LPU coach Gilbert Malabanan is happy to see Valdez, one of the team’s seniors, his game evolve as proved by his +9 efficiency rating inside the court.

“I’ll gonna say na nakita ko ang maturity niya, not only on the game but also on his attitude, and that’s number one. Ang laki ng ipinagbago ni Enoch when it becomes to attitude,” said Malabanan.

“Kaya medyo maganda ang nagagawa niya sa team because of his attitude and he knows that,” he added.

Renzo Navarro also keyed the Pirates win, drilling in four pressure-packed free throws in the 13.2 seconds to seal the deal.

The Altas fell to 2-3.

Perpetual’s loss went for naught Jielo Razon (18 points and 10 rebounds) and JC Abis (11 points and 15 rebounds) double-double outing. Kim Aurin added 16 points and two rebounds
